Holiday Gift Guide for the Outdoorsman

Christmas will be here before we know it, which means it is time to start thinking about shopping for gifts. In years past I have struggled to pick out Christmas gifts for the men in my life. Holiday shopping can be so stressful when you don’t know what to buy for someone.

Most of the men in my family, especially my husband, love outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, gardening, homesteading, and foraging. This year I decided to save myself the stress and recruit my husband’s help. I had him help me create a list of his top gifts that are specifically geared toward men who love the great outdoors.

Save yourself the time and energy of hunting for the perfect gift. This holiday gift guide is packed with the perfect gift ideas that all outdoors-men will love!

Outdoor Tools

These are all meant for an outdoorsman or homesteader who appreciates nice, high quality tools. Men who would rather pay for a quality item that will last years instead of purchasing cheap items that break quickly. Any man in your life will be ecstatic about these amazing tools!

Fold-able Saw

The Silky Katana Boy is a great all-purpose saw that is lightweight and foldable. It has a relatively long reach for its small size which also makes it ideal for packing in a camping backpack or taking out on the four wheeler when riding trails. It can be used  for clearing trails, trimming trees and bushes, and especially for clearing out hunting stands. My husband swears that he prefers it over a chainsaw on limbs 5 inches and less.  Perfect for the outdoorsman or hunter.

Knife and Tool Sharpener

A Knife and tool sharpener is perfect for the handyman and can be used for sharpening blades, tools, knives, etc.

Gas Can

Buying a gas can as a gift may sound strange to us women but my husband insists they are a highly sought after gift for the outdoor man. He informed me, “They don’t make nice gascans anymore- this gas can will literally pass down to your children.”

Axe

This amazing quality axe isHAND MADE in a small shop in Sweden.  Each purchase helps preserve the traditional axe making shop and workers. They are one of the few companies still operating this way. Plus, it has a 20 year warranty which is unheard of from an axe.

Chainsaw Chaps

Chainsaw Chaps are a thoughtful gift because most men don’t think much about their own safety. Operating a chainsaw can be a dangerous undertaking and these chaps will help keep them unharmed.

Hiking and Camping

Hiking Boots

My husband has these boots for 6 years and says that they are the most comfortable pair he has ever worn. They are a great boot for hiking as well as wearing in the snow and mud.

Battery Charger

Keeping a portable battery charger on hand when you are outdoors and far from any electrical outlets is always a smart idea.

Thermos

A thermos is an absolute must for camping and hiking trips during the colder months.

Hammock

Hammocks are a great gift idea for any camper.

Filtering Water Bottle

This BPA free water bottle filters out bacteria so the hiker/camper has fresh, drinkable water available wherever he goes.

Portable Camping Chair

My brother owns this camping chair and loves it! It folds down and fits in a small compact bag which makes it perfect for camping trips.

Homesteading and Gardening

Books

These are the perfect books for men who are interested in homesteading, sustainable farming, or gardening.

Food Preservation

Gardeners and homesteaders will love this fermenting kit to help them preserve all their summer produce.

A dehydrator is also a great way to put all that garden produce to use!

Clothing

Muck boots are a must for every outdoorsman!

A sun hat may not be the most fashionable but it is certainly functional and necessary for those who spend a lot of time outdoors.

A good pair of work gloves are a staple for any homesteader/gardener.

Hunting and Fishing

Tracking Light

A deer tracking light is very helpful for trailing deer.

Vacuum Sealer

Buy the man in your life a vacuum sealer for storing all the meat he he gets while hunting or fishing.

Dry Bag

Dry bag for keeping phone, keys, and wallet dry while on the boat, in the water, or out in the rain.

Wool Socks

Wool socks make a great stocking stuffer for a hunter or fisherman.

Binoculars

Good quality binoculars are an all-purpose gift that men can use for hunting and fishing in addition to many other outdoor activities.
