As a first time mom I had no idea what products I would need to not only make my life easier, but also keep my baby safe and healthy. I ended up with a lot of things I didn’t use and lacked some essentials. I’ve put together a list of some natural products you need for you and your new baby!
Amazon Baby Registry Perks
If I’m being honest, I use Amazon ALL the time. It is so convenient that they now offer a baby registry. Setting it up is so easy! You can even add products from other websites to your Amazon Baby Registry! They provide a registry checklist and you can even search through other registries for ideas. They have several lists of the most popular and highest rated baby products. Another perk is that friends and family can buy gifts off your list and ship them to your home and Amazon even generates a Thank You list so it is easy to send thank-you notes. They also offer a 10% discount on baby registry items and 15% discount for Amazon Prime members if you complete the registry! Follow this link or the link below to get started.
Cloth Diapers are a sustainable, natural, and money-saving option. I tried a couple different cloth diaper brands with my older children and Flip is by far the best in my opinion. My youngest son has been wearing them for over 18 months and I hardly ever have problems with leaks. The best thing is that they are a one-size fits all. Easy to adjust snaps allow you to fit the diaper to your baby from newborn all the way through the toddler years. Another natural product we love is this messy bum spray that can be used to make your own inexpensive wipes!
I breastfed both of my two children, but also had to supplement with formula. It is always good to be prepared with bottles even if you plan on exclusively breastfeeding. Mom’s need a break too, so introducing the bottle at an early age allows someone else to watch the baby for more than an hour or two. If you don’t want to use formula and plan on pumping, having a high-quality breast pump will save you a lot of time and energy. The items listed below are the infant feeding items I recommend purchasing or adding to your baby registry.
I can’t stress enough the importance of a quality organic crib mattress and crib mattress protector! Most conventional mattresses have dangerous chemicals that you don’t want your baby to breathe in. This is one of the most important natural products to have in your home. After going through several miscarriages, I became extremely motivated to create a safe environment for my baby. Your baby will spend a lot of time in their crib, so make sure it is safe! This mattress is breathable so even if your baby turn onto their stomach, they will not suffocate.
I love having a video baby monitor so I can see how the baby is doing without walking in the room ( anyone else have light-sleepers?)! When it comes to swaddling and multi-purpose blankets, these breathable, soft swaddle blankets are amazing! They come in several different colors and patterns. The Rock ‘n Play is an absolute life saver! My son had reflux and could not sleep flat on his back for several months. This keeps the baby safe and comfortable and is also portable. There is even a feature that allows it to rock itself!
On The Go
Do you have a fussy baby who doesn’t want to be put down but you have a million things to do? Ergo Carriers are the best! They are comfortable for both you and the baby and allow you to walk around while baby is nestled in close to you. Another product I have used for several years is this jogging stroller. I actually purchased the Double Jogger when I had two little ones close in age and it was a life-saver. We’ve put a lot of miles on the stroller and it has held up for many years. It was definitely a worth-while investment!
For some reason, when my kids were babies, I always bought the cheapest thermometer out there. I would think I didn’t need one until I REALLY needed one. When my kids got sick, I always seemed to find a thermometer that had dead batteries or wasn’t working properly. This forehead and ear thermometer makes it easy to accurately take your baby’s temperature without upsetting them when they already don’t feel well. Take it from me, invest in a good thermometer! Another natural product many moms swear by is this amber teething necklace, which is said to relieve your baby’s teething pain! I loved using these food feeders when my babies were teething. Just add a little frozen fruit or vegetables into the mesh pocket and let them chew on it to help relieve their swollen and painful gums.
Baby Skin Care
Grandma’s Lavender products are made with pure and simple ingredients and are free of toxins and harsh chemicals. We swear by the quality of these products and have used them for ourselves and our families for over 5 years. The baby butter has been used on each one of our baby’s delicate skin, our laundry smells like sweet lavender buds from the laundry soap and dryer pouches, and the hand soap sits at each sink in our homes. We have been able to reduce our daily use of harmful chemicals by switching over to these products. They also provide natural postpartum care products, such as mastitis relief tea bags and nipple cream.
